The First Symposium on Frontiers of Eye Movement Corpus Research Held at GXU

From December 6th to 8th, The First Symposium on the Frontiers of Eye Movement Corpus Research, co-organized by the Eye Movement Psychology Research Professional Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society, was held at our university. Professor Bai Xuejun, Chair of the Eye-movement Psychology Research Committee of Chinese Psychological Society, and Vice President of Tianjin Normal University, and Professor Xia Guoen, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC GXU committee and Vice President of Guangxi University, both delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Sun Rui, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC GXU committee, head of GXU Publicity Department, and Dean of the School of Chinese Language and Liteature.

Professor Xia Guoen, together with Professor Victor Kuperman from McMaster University in Canada, Professor Li Xingshan from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lu Shiyi of the School of Chinese Laguage and Literature at Guangxi University, jointly inaugurated the Language and Cognition Laboratory of Guangxi University.

 

 

The discussions at this symposium focused on the development and construction of eye movement corpus, the processing and analysis of eye movement data, and the expanded applications of eye movement corpus across various fields. The event highlighted the significant potential and practical application value of eye movement technology in language and cognition research, paving the way for new avenues of interdisciplinary integration and innovation.

Attendees included experts and scholars from Tianjin Normal University, McMaster University of Canada, the University of Southampton, University of Macau, Liaoning Normal University, the Education University of Hong Kong, Jinan University, Guangxi University, the Institute of Psychology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and various other universities and research institutions.
