From October 15th to 28th, Guangxi University organized a study tour activity entitled, “2024 Summer Camp for College and High School Students from Thai Confucius Institute of Suan Dusit Rajabhat at Suphanburi”. This activity was aimed at enabling Thai students to experience Chinese culture, learn Chinese, feel the local customs of Guangxi, and experience the hospitality of the Chinese people and the breadth and depth of Chinese culture, so as to further enhance the friendship and exchanges between the young people of China and Thailand.
During the 2-week study tour, members of the study group went to Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre and China-ASEAN Information Harbor to feel the rapid development of Guangxi. They also visited the Confucius Temple, Qingxiu Mountain, Guangxi Museum of Nationalities and other places to experience the city's appearance and local customs of Nanning, as well as to appreciate the characteristics of China's multi-ethnic integration. In addition, they went to Guilin to experience the natural scenery of its mountains and waters which are renowned as the world’s best, and felt the magnificent scenery of China's mountains and rivers. Lectures and activities had been organized including calligraphy practice, Chinese folk song singing, Taiji learning, initial recognition of Peking Opera facial makeup, introduction of Guangxi ethnic groups, alongside a summary of Chinese culture in order to help students understand the inheritance of Chinese culture, and experience the charm of Chinese language and culture through basic introductory training of spoken Chinese.
Ms. Ke Xiuqiu, the Vice President of Confucius Institute at Suphanburi, stated that the study tour activities have enhanced the understanding of Guangxi University among Thai college and middle school students, as well as their recognition of Chinese culture and history. They have personally experienced the characteristics of China's rapid development and multi-ethnic integration, laying a solid foundation for future exchanges between China and Thailand, becoming a key force in building a close relationship between China and Thailand. The study tour provides Thai students with opportunities to understand China, allowing them to personally experience and learn about the profound Chinese culture, and deepen their understanding of China.
At the end of the study tour, Thai students expressed that their visit to China was very fruitful, as they had not only learned about the history and culture of China, but also made many new friends. Through this study tour, they have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of friendly relations and cooperation between China and Thailand.
