On July 4, the 2024 China(Guangxi)-ASEAN Hand-in-Hand Event was held in Nanning, Guangxi. The event was co-sponsored by the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Youth Federation and Guangxi Voluntary Service Federation, and was hosted by Nanning Vocational and Technical University and Guangxi Radio and Television Station.
Officials from the Consulates General of Laos, Malaysia and Myanmar in Nanning, as well as over 500 youth representatives from China and ASEAN countries attended the event.
Liu Shixuan, a Vietnamese student graduated from the Chinese language undergraduate program of Guangxi University in 2024, participated in the event and was appointed as a "Guangxi Youth Storyteller".
At the Story Sharing Meeting, Liu Shixuan and four other "Guangxi Youth Storytellers" from different universities in Guangxi shared compelling stories of win-win cooperation, mutual assistance and reciprocal learning between China and ASEAN countries in volunteer service, cultural exchanges, agricultural science and technology, healthcare, science education, and other fields that they had personally witnessed. These narratives reflected the aspirations of young people from China and ASEAN while also emphasizing the deep-seated friendship between the two entities. Furthermore, these stories serve as a vivid depiction of collaborative efforts to establish a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
It has been reported that the China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Youth Hand-in-Hand Event has been successfully held for three sessions since 2022. A total of 19 Chinese and ASEAN youths have been honored with the title of "Guangxi Youth Storytellers". This event has evolved into a significant platform for fostering exchange, dialogue, and mutual learning among the youth from China and ASEAN countries.
